The lobby-level offers several computers, a Starbucks, and a living room area with a gigantic flat-screen TV, all with free Wi-Fi. The business center is pretty impressive too. The Westin's narrow fitness center and the Hilton, with its smaller outdoor deck and pool, can't come close to this. The star of the hotel is the excellent fitness complex, featuring an indoor lap pool - the biggest in Boston - with a retractable glass ceiling, a huge outdoor atrium with lounge chairs, and separate weight and cardio rooms. This 1,220-room hotel is literally surrounded by the competition - the Boston Marriott Copley Place and Westin Copley Place are also attached to the complex, and across the street is the Hilton Boston Back Bay.ĭespite the number of people rushing in and out, the expansive lobby feels calming thanks to large plush couches and oversize chairs. Take an underwater camera to make the most of the reefs. If you ask reception they will give you change for tips, as we only had large dollar bills when we arrived. We were quickly moved to another room though, so no complaints even so. Had a small issue the last night where a massive storm caused a lot of water to start coming into our upstairs room. Would recommend to anyone thinking of going and great value really for a stay in a tropical paradise. The sister resorts (Akumal & Tulum) are both right on the beach and looked a little posher, so might recommend these for a better experience, athough I think they are more expensive and there is really nothing wrong with Coba. Facilities are pretty good and Wifi everywhere. Few mozzies there too, but that isnt really any reflection on the hotel. Plenty of iguanas, gutis and coatis running around and the place is well maintained. Gounds - Very large and beautiful grounds.

Take sea shoes though, as it is a reef after all and quite sharp. Nice bar too and they give you towels and refreshements. Second only to Fiji for me so far in terms of snorkeling.

The reef is fantastic and full of tropical fish. We didnt really bother with much of the enteretainment, so cant really comment on this.īeach - This is small, but still plenty big enough with a lot of sun beds. Also penty of outdoor jacuzis that are usually quiet and available. Pools and Entertainment - Usual nonsense with towels out early, but still pnety of loungers available and a lot of pools, with lovely and warm water. Not really a problem, as you can just help yourself for the most part anyway, which we were happy to do. Service was a bit poor, with a lot of staff favouring the locals and sometimes we werent offered drinks and had to wait quite a while for cutlery etc, but I suspect this is due to them kowning a lot of europeans dont tip. Tepanyaki was a very fun and entertaining show! Decent food available 24/7 in the food shacks too. The Al A Carte meals were fanstastic and we managed to book 3 without issue, as though book these soon after you arrive to make sure you can get the resteraunts you want. We never had any issues with sickness as some have reported. Didnt manage to try most things as there was so many choices. The aircon wasnt the best, but the room was large and clean and the beds were made everyday and fresh towels etc.įood - Very large selection in the buffet and something for everyone. Our beds were comfy, although when we moved to ather room this was quite firm, so I guess there are a mix here. Rooms - The rooms arent as modern as some of the other resorts, but I thought they were fine and the jacuzzi bath was nice.

So I thought I'd give what I think is a more balanced view. I dont normally write reviews, but when doing my research for this trip and read a lot of these and although I know people usually only tend to report negative experiences, I got quite worried before setting off that I'd made a mistake given some of the comments.
